Injection Well Projects
The Weegar-Eide project team has extensive experience regarding injection well projects. We have successfully completed over 100 injection well projects involving feasibility and site selection studies, Class I, II, III, and class V injection well permit applications, permit renewal applications, and USEPA no migration petitions and re-issuances throughout the United States. All aspects of the permitting and petition process are provided by our company, including: 1) geological data development; 2) reservoir engineering and modeling; 3) well engineering, design, installation supervision, and certification; 4) area of review delineation and calculations; 5) waste fluid characterizations; and 6) materials and reservoir compatibility studies.
Summary of Recent Projects
Weegar-Eide recently provided technical and field support for the installation of a new Class I injection well in the Texas Panhandle. The well was successfully drilled and completed and passed mechanical integrity tests and is awaiting certification from the state regulatory agency. In addition, Weegar-Eide managed and prepared the required drilling and completion report for well certification.
Weegar-Eide provided regulatory and field support for a major workover of a Class I injection well at a chemical facility in the Texas Gulf Coast region. The workover included a lower wellbore isolation and recompletion of the well in a new, upper zone.
Weegar-Eide managed, completed, and submitted an Application for Authorization of Pre-Injection Units by Registration for a Class I injection well system at a chemical facility in the Texas Panhandle. The application was for new surface facilities associated with a new well system. The application and technical report required the involvement of multiple engineering disciplines and vendor services. The registration was recently approved with no deficiencies.
Weegar-Eide completed and submitted a permit renewal application and technical report for a Class I (hazardous) injection well in the Texas Panhandle.
Other recent Weegar-Eide injection well projects have included the following:
- Provided project management, permit support, technical demonstrations, and field oversight and support for successful Class I injection well permitting and well testing projects in Colorado under USEPA Region 8 authority.
- Provided project management, permit support, technical demonstrations, and field oversight and support for successful Class I injection well permitting and well testing projects in California under USEPA Region 9 authority.
- Completed the technical application requirements and successfully permitted two Class I injection wells associated with an in-situ uranium mining facility in South Texas.
- Completed the technical application requirements and successfully permitted a Class I injection well for a chemical facility in the Texas Panhandle.
- Provided hydrogeological consulting and field supervision associated with the Permit Area Authorization (PAA) as part of the Class III injection well permit for an in-situ uranium mining facility in South Texas.
- Provided multiple siting studies including geological and hydrogeological framework development for Class II injection well projects located in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma for a major E&P waste disposal company associated with unconventional shale projects.
- Provided permit support and technical geological support to multiple Class II injection well installation projects and workovers for a major E&P waste disposal company in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.
- Provided technical feasibility study support and geological evaluation to include a dynamic reservoir model for siting a potential hydrocarbon-bearing geothermal project along the Texas Gulf Coast for a major oil and gas company.
In addition, Weegar-Eide staff continues to actively support a recently submitted Class I (hazardous) injection well no-migration petition re-issuance for a facility in the Texas Panhandle. Technical requirements included the development of a comprehensive report containing the site hydrogeological and geological framework and detailed plume transport and fate modeling. The re-issuance is currently under technical review by the USEPA Region 6 office.
